The PolNorRHEUMA team met with key industry leaders to discuss exciting news in the project.

All partners gathered in Kraków to review the progress and speak with representatives of pharmaceutical companies, medical publishers, among other stakeholders.

As the patient database grows larger and larger, a local registry is on the horizon. PolNor leaders announced the PolRheuma Alliance, an entity that will serve as the reliable administrator to this database.

Jarek Urbanik, CEO of Kambu, was pleased that the encounter allowed the group to discuss the next steps: “Everybody is on the same page, so it was the perfect time to advance and think on how to enhance the project even further.”

What is PolNor

PolNor Rheuma is a partnership between Polish and Norwegian hospitals and IT companies. The goal is to advance and remodel Rheumatology care and research in Poland, introducing a structured medical record system, following Norway’s success.

The core tool was developed by DiaGraphIT and is being adapted to Poland by Kambu. You can learn more at the PolNorRheuma website.

PROs and the Power of Data

One of the ways PolNor provides this data is via the so-called Patient-reported outcomes or PROs.

Rheumatology patients are asked standardized questionnaires about their disease and beyond, providing a wider picture of what their situation is.

The program also retrieves data from devices that measure health parameters. This way, data is not only collected during hospital visits.

All this information enables more patient-centric care, but not only. With this data in hand, clinics can more easily reallocate resources – for instance, scheduling more visits to patients whose condition might worsen. And optimizing resources is fundamental especially since healthcare cost is steadily increasing.
